Artist Statement

In recent years my sculptural practice has been informed largely by objects derived from childhood models and games, such as my series entitled Variations of a Circular Motion, based on the principles of the popular Spirograph drawing tool; Superfortress ,an enlarged version of the balsawood model of the infamous B-29 bomber; and Labyrinth Coaster, a complex construction that plots the meandering path of the Cretan style labyrinth structured as a wooden rollercoaster.  Rooted in these adaptations of familiar and accessible cultural iconographical objects exists an air of social criticism.
